Who we are?
We are polish EVS volunteers from The Schuman Foundation situated in Warsaw, currently working in Tkibuli District Development Fund. We want you to join us in that spectacular journey through the Georgians dreams, plans & fears. Our project will be held within the framwork of the international movement called Before I Die, started in USA. As far as we know, it will be the first Wall across the whole country.
What is the Before I Die Project?
Before I Die is a global public art project that invites people to share their hopes and dreams in public space. Originally created by Candy Chang on an abandoned house in New Orleans neighborhood, the project is about remembering what is important to you and creating public spaces that better reflect what matters to us as a community and as individuals.
When & where I can express my dreams using the street-art project?
On 9th of March 2014 we will be celebrating the Opening Ceremony of the first Georgian Before I Die Wall in Tkibuli. The chalkboard, which is both-sided (in Georgian & English languages) is designed to inspire people in their places to stop for a while and reflect on their goals, to help them understand that they are not alone in their fears, longings, wishes, anxieties or desires. We are all around the world united in our try to make sense of our lives.
If you wanna see the Wall operating in your area of living and you are ready to take care of the project, please, do not hesitate to contact us! The chalkboard is portable & mobile, so it can be quite easily transported with the help of the truck to every place in Georgia.
After one inaugural week of the Wall's display in Tkibuli, we can build our calendar including more places in the country - with your help and energy contribution!
All you need in your city or village is the good public spot for putting a board (with the regular pedestrians traffic), some chalk and some time (or an available team) to make the daily photo documentation of the appearing responses on the Wall. When the board is full, you make the pics and clean it for another turn.
We have a team that will be monitoring the Wall daily. Once the Wall is full, we will erase all of the responses and start over so new people can add their thoughts or people that have already shared can share something different. We will also be responsible for taking care of anything that we or the town deems "inappropriate". It should look the same in your city.
